Versatile Terahertz / mmWave (NDT) Material Test Fixture

The MWI Versatile Terahertz & mmWave Material Test Fixture is a reconfigurable, mobile platform designed for high-frequency NDT (Non-Destructive Testing). This dual-application system is engineered to perform both Reflection Loss and Insertion Loss measurements with extreme precision. Its unique, lightweight design on wheels allows it to be deployed wherever the material is located—whether in a laboratory or on a production floor.

Dynamic Reconfigurability

  • Interchangeable Frequency Range: Currently supporting broadband coverage from 42 GHz to 125 GHz via a selection of MWI PRA (Polyrod) antennas.
  • Rapid Polarization Switching: Features a specialized mechanical interface to quickly switch between TE (Transverse Electric) and TM (Transverse Magnetic) modes, allowing for comprehensive material tensor analysis.
  • Manual or Automated Control: The base system allows for rapid manual angle changes. For complex scattering research, an Optional Automation Upgrade enables independent movement of the reflection arms to measure precise off-angle properties.

Wavelength-Driven Engineering

  • mmWave Focus: Optimized for the millimeter and sub-millimeter scale, ensuring that the “spot size” is perfectly maintained across the 42–125 GHz range.
  • Bistatic Versatility: The independent arms allow for a variety of bistatic configurations, making it the ideal tool for measuring scattering effects and angular dependency in next-generation materials.
  • Mobile Stability: Despite being “On Wheels” for portability, the fixture locks into a rigid state to ensure the phase stability required for Terahertz-scale measurements.

Primary Utility

The definitive solution for engineers needing a “go-anywhere” high-frequency test stand. It is particularly effective for characterizing stealth coatings, 6G satellite components, and complex composites where both transmission and reflection data are required at multiple angles and polarizations.
