Calibration & Verification Standards

MWI Calibration & Verification Standards provide a comprehensive suite of physical benchmarks to ensure absolute accuracy across all MWI Admittance Tunnels, OSR systems, and Scanning platforms. This kit includes precision-machined dielectric slabs and frequency-optimized irises, allowing for a “known-truth” verification of complex permittivity, and system phase stability. By matching sample sizes to the specific hardware (XY dimensions) and frequency bands (iris diameter), MWI provides a turnkey solution for maintaining lab-grade performance in production environments.

Precision Dielectric Standards

The kit features the industry’s most stable dielectric materials, cut to match the specific apertures of MWI test fixtures:

  • Rexolite® Slabs: The primary “gold standard” with a fixed dielectric constant of 2.53 from VHF to 500 GHz. Virtually immune to moisture and frequency drift.
  • Plexiglass (Acrylic) Slabs: Cost-effective secondary standards for high-volume verification across varying thicknesses and XY sizes.
  • Custom XY Scaling: Samples are available in standard laboratory sizes (e.g., 6″x6″, 12″x12″) or custom dimensions to fit the Net Table of large-scale Robotic XYZ-Scanners.
  • Thickness Ranges: Precision-ground samples ranging from thin films to 6-inch thick “Slab” standards to verify volumetric penetration.

Frequency-Optimized Calibration Irises

To maintain phase and transmission accuracy across wide bands, MWI provides a range of precision-machined irises:

  • Aperture Scaling: Iris diameters are mathematically optimized for specific frequency bands (e.g., L, S, C, X, Ku, K, and Ka-band) to ensure the Gaussian beam is properly constrained during calibration.
  • Boundary Validation: Used as “Through-Reflect-Line” (TRL) or “Fixed-Load” standards to calibrate the transition between the antenna and the material under test.
  • Interchangeable Mounting: Designed to snap directly into MWI Admittance Tunnels and VHF/UHF Slab fixtures for rapid, error-free setup.

Primary Utility

The essential verification package for ISO-certified metrology labs and aerospace QA facilities where daily system “check-outs” are required to guarantee the integrity of flight-critical material data.
